Fall is here! (UNBLOGGED)

Fall is here and the holidays are quickly approaching!  For many of us, apples come to mind and we like to use them in all sorts of recipes.  Beginning with Halloween events, Hot Wassail is a great beverage to offer your guests.  In fact, when it gets really cold outside, we love to greet Loose Mansion’s guests with Hot Wassail as soon as they walk in the door! There are tons of great recipes available, but following is a tried and true, very quick recipe that we’ve used at Loose Mansion:

Hot Wassail

8 quarts apple cider

12 oz. orange juice

8 oz. pineapple juice

4 oz. real lemon juice

½ cup sugar (or ½ cup honey)

3 cinnamon sticks

4 whole cloves

Stir together the above ingredients, bring to a boil and simmer.  If using a slow cooker, feel free to simmer all day on low.  Serve hot.  Garnish with an orange wheel!

If you want to turn it into a spiked juice toddy, add a little brandy, whiskey or rum!   Yum!
