The First Dance (UNBLOGGED)

Having trouble picking your first dance song? Past brides … help us out! What was your criteria for selecting your first song? What song and artist did you select? Until we hear back, here’s how I arrived at my own :

Picking the first dance may be an easy task for some couples, but it took my husband and I quite a bit of thought!  It helped us to define some criteria for the song.  We decided it had to be appropriate (so we won’t be embarrassed by the words with our grandparents present), timeless (so we won’t be embarrassed someday when our kids watch our video), and personal (special to OUR relationship).

It’s a known fact to our family and friends that we are both obsessed with Tim McGraw, and country music in general.  After seeing him in concert, both of us belting out nearly every word to every song, it became clear that he was the artist for us to use for our first dance song.  Picking the song itself was tougher, but we enjoyed a special night listening to all of his songs together.

We landed on the perfect song for us called, “It’s Your Love” by Tim McGraw and his wife, Faith Hill.  We felt this song is appropriate, timeless, and personal.  If you love country, check it out!  I will forever get teary-eyed when I hear it on the radio!
